Dobong-gu Partners with Seoul Business Agency (SBA) to Foster Startups and Promote Regional Growth

Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) is partnering with the Seoul Business Agency (CEO Kim Hyun-woo) to promote regional growth through fostering startup companies.

The district announced that on May 24, it signed a business agreement with the Seoul Business Agency to “foster and support the growth of startup companies in the northeastern startup ecosystem.”

The Seoul Business Agency is an institution funded by the Seoul Metropolitan Government to support the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises in Seoul. Following Gongdeok and Seongsu, it has been operating the “Seoul Startup Hub Changdong” in Changdong, Dobong-gu since 2020, currently supporting the growth of over 30 outstanding startups in the Dobong-gu area.

According to the agreement, the two organizations will cooperate to create a startup ecosystem connecting the Youth Startup Center, Seoul Startup Hub Changdong, and Seed Cube Changdong, and to create jobs for young people.

Specifically, at the “Dobong-gu Youth Startup Center,” which held its opening ceremony on the same day, they will support incubating prospective entrepreneurs and early-stage startups, while “Seoul Startup Hub Changdong” will back corporate growth such as investment attraction. Furthermore, a cyclical support system will be established to assist company scale-up at “Seed Cube Changdong” in the future.

In particular, utilizing the XR studio installed exclusively at “Seoul Startup Hub Changdong” in the northeastern Seoul area, they will foster specialized industries unique to Changdong and support content development as well as the discovery and growth of related companies.

Additionally, mutual facility use will be supported among resident and graduated companies of the “Youth Startup Center” and “Seoul Startup Hub Changdong” to activate exchanges between companies.

The district had early discussions on mutual cooperation with the Seoul Business Agency to attract and support the growth of outstanding companies in the region. Seed Cube Changdong, a corporate activity space, was completed in July last year, leading to this concrete cooperation agreement.

Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “Through the agreement with the Seoul Business Agency, we can lead outstanding companies to settle in the region. This will serve as a catalyst for job creation for local youth.” He added, “The district will continue to accelerate the establishment of related infrastructure so that companies can grow well in Dobong-gu and young people can pursue their dreams.”
