US Condemns North Korea's Reconnaissance Satellite Launch as "Violation of Security Council Resolution"

On the 27th (local time), the U.S. military condemned North Korea's failed reconnaissance satellite launch as a "clear violation of multiple United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions."

The U.S. Indo-Pacific Command issued a statement on the same day, saying, "We are aware of North Korea's launch using ballistic missile technology."

The command criticized, "This escalates tensions and poses risks that destabilize security situations both regionally and beyond." It added, "This launch involves technology directly related to North Korea's intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) program. We are closely cooperating with allies and partner countries to assess the situation."

The command stated, "While this launch does not pose an immediate threat to U.S. territory or its allies, we will continue to monitor the situation," emphasizing, "The defense commitments to U.S. territory, South Korea, and Japan remain ironclad."
