Interest Support of 0.5~2%P for Smart Logistics Center Certification
Total of 45 Sites Certified Since Introduction in July 2021
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 28th that CJ Logistics Yongin Logistics Center and BYC Wanju Logistics Center have been certified as the 'First Smart Logistics Centers of 2024.'
The Smart Logistics Center certification system is a national certification for logistics centers that adopt advanced and automated facilities, equipment, and systems to achieve efficiency, safety, and eco-friendliness. Since the system was introduced in July 2021, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has certified a total of 45 centers including this certification.
When certified as a Smart Logistics Center, companies receive interest support ranging from 0.5 to 2 percentage points on loans for building or purchasing advanced and automated equipment. The amount of interest support varies depending on the company size and certification grade (grades 1 to 5). The loan limit per company is 150 billion KRW for facility funds and 10 billion KRW for operating funds. As of the end of last year, the 45 certified Smart Logistics Centers have received interest support amounting to 14.3 billion KRW on loans totaling 931.8 billion KRW.
The CJ Logistics Yongin Logistics Center, which received a grade 1 certification this time, is a fulfillment logistics center composed of three temperature zones (room temperature, refrigerated, frozen). A fulfillment logistics center is a logistics specialist company that handles all logistics processes including receiving, storage, packaging, delivery, and inventory management. This logistics center has introduced automated equipment such as robots and a monitoring system based on digital twin technology, enabling efficient operational management.
BYC Wanju Logistics Center integrates storage, sorting, and shipping through an automated logistics system to handle B2B (business-to-business) and B2C (business-to-consumer) orders nationwide. Due to the nature of BYC’s orders, which involve repackaging and distributing imported goods, the center plans to implement a GTP (Goods To Person) based system to minimize labor consumption and work intensity. GTP is an automated system where products are moved to the worker’s location without the worker having to go to pick up the items.
Kim Geun-oh, Director of Logistics Policy at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, said, "The Smart Logistics Center certification system is a key project supporting private logistics companies, and interest and participation from the industry are increasing." He added, "We will actively support the logistics industry to grow as a future new growth engine through the expansion of Smart Logistics Centers."
