On the 27th, President Yoon Suk-yeol held a separate meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang and urged China, as a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, to play a constructive role in maintaining the global nuclear non-proliferation regime regarding nuclear issues.
Kim Soo-kyung, spokesperson for the Presidential Office, stated in a press release that President Yoon requested China's cooperation not only in maintaining the global nuclear non-proliferation regime but also on the issue of North Korean defectors.
In response, Premier Li Qiang said, "China has been striving for the peaceful resolution of the Korean Peninsula issue and considers stability in the situation important," adding, "We are well aware of South Korea's concerns and will continue to communicate going forward."
