Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) will operate the "Plogging Walking Challenge for a Clean Gwangjin" throughout June to promote the health of its residents. This challenge was organized to encourage physical activity among residents and to spread the practice of green living.
Plogging is an exercise that originated in Sweden, involving jogging while picking up trash. The National Institute of the Korean Language has selected the Korean term "Sseudam Dalligi" as an alternative to plogging.
The challenge is open to Gwangjin-gu residents or workers in the area. Any pedometer app that can verify steps can be used regardless of type, allowing participants to easily take on the challenge anytime and anywhere.
Participants must achieve a cumulative total of 150,000 steps between June 1 and 30, and submit a photo either taken at the Gwangjin Environmental Festival (June 8, Children's Grand Park) or a photo of themselves picking up trash while walking in Gwangjin-gu.
To enter, participants should send the verification photo along with their name, age, and gender via 1:1 chat on the "Gwangjin-gu Public Health Center Exercise Education Room" KakaoTalk channel.
The submission period is from June 17 to July 1.
One hundred participants will be selected by lottery to receive reusable eco-friendly cups. For more details, please contact the Gwangjin-gu Office website or the Gwangjin-gu Public Health Center Exercise Education Room.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, "We organized this walking challenge so that residents can take care of their health while leading efforts to preserve the environment," adding, "We will continue to prepare various projects to promote health, so we ask for your interest and participation."
