Gwangju Seo-gu 'Reducing Food Waste' Poster Contest Held

Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, will hold a poster contest to reduce food waste for elementary school students in the district until the 28th of next month.


According to Seo-gu on the 27th, this contest was promoted to encourage children, the future generation, to practice reducing food waste and to create a culture of resource circulation.

To participate, students should create a poster on an 8-cut sheet of paper illustrating ▲the environmental pollution problems caused by food waste and raising awareness ▲methods to reduce food waste, and submit it along with the application form by visiting the Cleaning Administration Division of Seo-gu Office or by mail.


Seo-gu plans to select a total of 12 award-winning works, including one grand prize winner (cultural gift certificate worth 150,000 KRW), two excellence award winners (cultural gift certificates worth 100,000 KRW), and three encouragement award winners (cultural gift certificates worth 50,000 KRW) for each group of grades 1-3 and 4-6.


The award ceremony will be held on September 6th during the Resource Circulation Day event, where the 12 winning works will also be exhibited.


Chae Bong-gil, head of the Cleaning Administration Division, said, “Through this contest, we will strive to cultivate proper environmental awareness among children and raise the importance of reducing food waste. We hope for much interest and participation so that creative and innovative works by Seo-gu elementary school students can be submitted.”
