Jeon Byeong-wang, the first controller of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, said at a briefing held at the Government Sejong Complex on the morning of the same day, "Medical reform, including the increase in medical school admissions, will be a milestone for South Korea's medical system to take a step forward toward a new future."

He continued, "(The government) will persuade residents to return to the field promptly, and normalize the abnormal medical supply and utilization system that had to rely excessively on residents, thereby innovating into a patient-centered medical system where patients can receive stable treatment under any circumstances."
