Two posthumous works of actor Lee Sun-kyun, who passed away last year during a drug investigation, will be released this summer.
CJ ENM announced on the 27th that the movie Escape: PROJECT SILENCE will be released in theaters this July. It will be shown in theaters 1 year and 2 months after its premiere at the 76th Cannes Film Festival in May last year.
The film is a disaster thriller depicting a story where a series of pile-up accidents occur in thick fog, and people struggle to survive against uncontrollable military experimental dogs unleashed on the airport bridge on the verge of collapse. It is produced by director Kim Yong-hwa of Vlad Studio and directed by Kim Tae-gon, who directed Goodbye Single (2016).
Actor Lee Sun-kyun plays Jung Won, a security office administrator trapped on the airport bridge just before its collapse, while Ju Ji-hoon co-stars as Jo Bak, a tow truck driver aiming for a big break in life. The cast also includes Kim Hee-won, Moon Sung-keun, and Ye Su-jung.
Meanwhile, another film starring Lee Sun-kyun, Land of Happiness (directed by Chu Chang-min), will also meet audiences this summer. The distributor NEW previously confirmed that it will be released in theaters this August. The film is based on the events following the October 26 Incident in 1979, with Lee Sun-kyun portraying Park Tae-joo, a soldier caught up in the incident that shook modern Korean history.
