Sacheon City and Korea Polytechnic University Sign MOU to Foster Future Air Mobility Talent

Local Governments and Universities Establish Cooperative System to Foster Regional Talents

Sacheon City in Gyeongnam Province announced on the 27th that it has signed a “Business Agreement for Nurturing Future Aviation Mobility Talent” with the Korea Polytechnic University Aviation Campus.


The signing ceremony was attended by Mayor Park Dongsik, Acting Dean Oh Kyungseok, and about 40 new students from the university’s aviation mobility department.

This agreement was established to promote mutual development of the two institutions by fostering outstanding local talent in the future aviation mobility sector and to build a cooperative system between the local government and the university.


The main contents of the agreement include supporting the acquisition of certifications for nurturing talent in future aviation mobility and establishing a mutual cooperation system to foster the future aviation mobility industry.


As a follow-up measure to this agreement, the city plans to invest 100 million KRW starting in 2024 to support the cost of training for students majoring in mobility to acquire ultralight flying device (drone) certifications.


Mayor Park stated, “This agreement marks an important first step toward the development and innovation of the future aviation mobility industry in line with the opening of the Aerospace Administration,” adding, “I hope both institutions will play a leading role in advancing the region’s aerospace industry.”


Meanwhile, the Korea Polytechnic University Aviation Campus established the Department of Aviation Mobility and the Department of Aviation Mobility Maintenance in 2024 to nurture specialized urban air mobility professionals for future new industries. Currently, it operates a two-year degree program and a one-year high-tech course.
