"Development of Solid Electrolyte with Purely Domestic Technology"
'3rd Generation Wet Synthesis Mass Production Platform' Applied
Completion Targeted Within the Year... Annual Production Capacity to Reach 40t
Solibis, a specialist company in sulfide-based solid electrolytes, announced on the 27th that it held a groundbreaking ceremony for the 'Solibis Solid Electrolyte Hoengseong Plant No. 1' on the 24th at the Ucheon General Industrial Complex in Hoengseong-gun, Gangwon Province, to mass-produce core materials for all-solid-state batteries.
Solibis is an innovative technology company founded by Professor Shin Dong-wook of Hanyang University’s Department of Materials Science and Engineering, who operated the nation’s first all-solid-state battery national project and laboratory. Based on over 20 years of research experience, the company holds world-class mass production core technologies for solid electrolytes and numerous related patents domestically and internationally.
As the first phase of establishing the plant, Solibis will invest a total of 15.2 billion KRW to construct three factory buildings?factory building, warehouse, and office building?within this year. Upon completion, the plant will have an annual production capacity of 40 tons.
The 'Mass Production Plant No. 1' that broke ground on this day is a 7,444㎡ (2,251 pyeong) solid electrolyte manufacturing facility. It applies the state-of-the-art solid electrolyte production process, the '3rd Generation Wet Synthesis Mass Production Platform,' developed by Solibis with approximately 2 billion KRW invested in research and development.
Solibis solid electrolytes utilize a self-developed world-class wet synthesis process, achieving the highest ionic conductivity known to date across all academic research and testing. Its greatest strength lies in the ability to promptly respond to customer requests regarding product particle size and distribution.
Kim Myung-gi, Hoengseong County Governor, said, "Producing solid electrolytes, which will be the cornerstone of next-generation secondary batteries, in Hoengseong is highly meaningful," and added, "Hoengseong County will do its best to help Solibis grow into a global top-tier company."
