Participation in the 'Special Prosecutor Refusal Condemnation Rally'
The Democratic Party of Korea's Gwangju Metropolitan City Party participated in the 'National Rally to Condemn the Rejection of the Special Prosecutor Law for Marine Corps Corporal and Urge Its Passage' held near Exit 4 of Seoul Station on the 25th.
According to the Democratic Party's Gwangju City Party on the 26th, about 300 people, including the 22nd general election winners in Gwangju (Jeong Jin-wook, An Do-geol, Jo In-cheol, Yang Bu-nam, Jeon Jin-sook, Jeong Jun-ho, Park Gyun-taek, Min Hyeong-bae), elected officials, and key party members, participated in the national rally to strongly condemn President Yoon Seok-yeol for rejecting the special prosecutor law for Corporal Chae of the Marine Corps.
The national rally began with remarks by Kim Gyu-hyun, a Marine Corps reservist, followed by relay speeches from civic groups and political parties (Progressive Party, Basic Income Party, Innovation Party for Justice, Reform New Party, New Future, Justice Party, Democratic Party of Korea), picketing, and chanting slogans, with a flood of denunciations directed at the Yoon Seok-yeol administration, which is committing the destruction of democracy.
Lee Byung-hoon, chairman of the Gwangju City Party, stated, "President Yoon Seok-yeol and the People Power Party have admitted to being perpetrators themselves by rejecting the special prosecutor," and pointed out, "A president who rejects the will of the people has no reason to exist and should not exist."
He added, "The passage of the special prosecutor law for Marine Corps Corporal Chae is a solemn command from the people," and said, "The Democratic Party of Korea must ensure the enactment of the special prosecutor law for Corporal Chae and uncover the truth."
Meanwhile, the Democratic Party of Korea plans to reapprove the 'Special Prosecutor Law for Marine Corps Corporal Chae,' which President Yoon Seok-yeol rejected, at the last plenary session of the 21st National Assembly on the 28th, and if it is rejected again, to propose it as the first bill of the 22nd National Assembly.
