Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam has created an opportunity for single men and women to find a partner.
The city announced on the 26th that it held a singles event called 'Solo Escape' for unmarried employees from the city government, local public institutions, and private companies. The aim is to encourage marriage among unmarried men and women of marriageable age and to take the lead in fostering a marriage-friendly atmosphere starting from the public sector.
This event was planned following suggestions from employees during a regular meeting in March. Jointly organized by Changwon Special City and the Changwon Special City Public Officials Labor Union, the event sought to provide a venue for single men and women, who have had few opportunities to meet potential partners due to their busy work lives, to find meaningful connections.
On this day, 70 single men and women selected through a public lottery participated in the event, which featured exciting programs such as couple recreation activities, making plaster perfumes, and group matching talks. Participants had the chance to get to know each other naturally through conversation, and a total of three couples were matched.
Jung Hyunseop, Director of the Autonomous Administration Bureau, said, "I hope that through this event, unmarried men and women from Changwon City, local public institutions, and private companies will have natural encounters, continue to interact, and eventually find meaningful relationships. I also hope this helps foster a positive mindset towards marriage among the younger generation and contributes, even in a small way, to improving the youth marriage rate."
