Pohang City Delegation Visits Busan's Representative Festival 'Haeundae Sand Festival'

First Visit After Sister City Agreement, Invitation to Pohang International Fireworks Festival

Jang Sangkil, Deputy Mayor of Pohang City, along with a delegation of six others, attended the opening ceremony of the 2024 Haeundae Sand Festival and the Sister and Friendship Cities Invitation Day event, which took place over three days from the 24th to the 27th.

On the 24th, Jang Sanggil, Vice Mayor of Pohang City, along with a delegation of six others, attended the sister city friendship invitation event hosted by Haeundae District and took a commemorative photo.

The 2024 Haeundae Sand Festival, which has established itself as the representative festival of Haeundae-gu, welcomed tourists this year with the theme of "A Journey to World Art Museums." The festival featured vibrant sand sculpture exhibitions, hands-on and participatory programs, unique performances, and a variety of other colorful events.

On the first day of the festival, Pohang City participated in the opening event as a friendship city at the invitation of Haeundae-gu, together with delegations from Gangneung, Boryeong, and Yeosu.

The communication and harmony event was held by exchanging local specialties with delegations from other cities, and finally, the delegation attended the celebratory performance at the opening ceremony of the sand festival, once again contributing to the success of the Haeundae Sand Festival.

Deputy Mayor Jang Sangkil said, "This event was especially meaningful as it was our first visit since signing the friendship city agreement with Haeundae-gu last year," and added, "We also plan to invite a delegation from Haeundae-gu to the Pohang International Fireworks Festival, our representative festival, to strengthen mutual exchange events between the two cities and continue to develop as cities of mutual prosperity."
