Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-jun is taking a commemorative photo after holding a meeting with the executives of the Suwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry on the 24th.
On the 24th, Lee Jae-jun, Mayor of Suwon, held a meeting with Kim Jae-ok, Chairman of the Suwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and other executives at the Suwon Convention Center to explain Suwon City's corporate support policies.
At the meeting, Mayor Lee said, "The past two years have been a time to design and plant the seeds for the Special Economic City," adding, "In the second half of the 8th term of the elected government, we will tighten the reins and cultivate the Special Economic City through selection and concentration."
He then presented four key corporate support policies: ▲ Establishment of a ring-shaped advanced science innovation cluster ▲ Creation of a financial investment ecosystem ▲ Development of a campus town ▲ Protection of local commercial districts.
The ring-shaped advanced science innovation cluster involves promoting the formation of a loop-type advanced science innovation cluster through Suwon City R&D Science Park, Gwanggyo Technovalley, Gwanggyo Bio Innovation Valley, and the renovation of the Maetan and Woncheon industrial area innovation districts.
The financial investment ecosystem includes the Suwon Enterprise Saebit Fund, which supports the growth of startups and promising companies, and the Saebit Loan program, a low-interest loan support project worth 300 billion KRW.
Mayor Lee emphasized, "We will create a ‘virtuous cycle business ecosystem’ where the region and companies grow together, good jobs are created, and talented people gather there."
The campus town aims to attract advanced companies to university campuses, similar to Silicon Valley in the United States, while the local commercial district protection city protects local commercial areas and revitalizes the regional economy. On May 1st, Suwon City declared itself the nation’s first ‘Local Commercial District Protection City.’
Mayor Lee added, "If Suwon City, the Suwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and companies unite and cooperate, the future of the ‘Special Economic City’ will come sooner," and pledged, "I will open my ears wide to the voices of companies and merchants and communicate actively."
