Ulsan City Visits Henan Province, the Birthplace of Chinese Civilization, to Benchmark World-Class Performance Venues

Mayor Kim Dookyum Signs Friendly Cooperation City Agreement

The Ulsan city delegation, led by Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom, will visit Henan Province, known as the birthplace of Chinese civilization and referred to as "Zhongyuan," from the 26th to the 27th.

Through this visit, the Ulsan delegation plans to formalize a friendly cooperative city agreement between Ulsan and Henan Province, and hold substantive discussions on economic and cultural exchanges with Henan.

On the first day of the visit, at 5 p.m. local time (6 p.m. Korean time) on the 26th, the delegation will visit Zhengzhou Grand Theater to benchmark world-class performance venues, a project currently being promoted by Ulsan.

Zhengzhou Grand Theater, which opened in November 2018, is a multipurpose performance venue built with an investment of 2.067 billion yuan (approximately 340 billion KRW), based on the design concept of "Voyage of the Yellow River, Ship of Art."

It has a total floor area of 127,700 square meters (62,578 square meters above ground, 63,387 square meters underground), a site area of 50,942 square meters, and a total of 3,449 seats.

The venue consists of four performance halls: a dance and musical theater with 1,686 seats, a concert hall with 878 seats, an opera hall with 454 seats, and a multifunctional hall that can accommodate 431 people.

Kim Doo-gyeom, Mayor of Ulsan, said, "The construction of a world-class performance venue in Ulsan must proceed without delay to enhance the cultural level of Ulsan citizens and promote the development of local culture."

Mayor Kim also stated, "Once a world-class performance venue is established, it will become a representative landmark of Ulsan and make a significant contribution to attracting tourists."

On the last day of the visit, the 27th, a signing ceremony will be held to formalize the friendly cooperative city agreement between Ulsan and Henan Province, China.
