President's Office Lawn Invites Reporters
President Yoon Personally Prepares and Serves
Shares 'Yoon Seok-yeol Style Kimchi Jjigae' Recipe
"The weather is nice today, so I hope you all relax a bit, enjoy some comfortable conversation together this evening."
President Yoon Suk-yeol held a dinner event with reporters covering the Blue House on the 24th. On this day, President Yoon personally served kimchi jjigae and rolled omelets to the reporters, continuing his communication efforts.
From 6 p.m., President Yoon invited about 200 reporters to the lawn yard of the Yongsan Presidential Office for a dinner event titled "The President's Evening Invitation."
During his transition period in March 2022, President Yoon met with reporters in a tent press room set up in front of the Presidential Transition Committee office and promised reporters, "I will cook kimchi jjigae after my inauguration." That promise was fulfilled about 2 years and 2 months later.
In his greeting, President Yoon said, "I probably promised you during my candidacy on the show 'Master in the House' that I would serve rolled omelets and kimchi jjigae, but it has already been 2 years and I haven't done it yet. Today, there was a large quantity, so I couldn't do it myself, but I wrote down the recipe for our operations staff and told them to follow it."

On this day, President Yoon prepared food such as Korean beef (Hanwoo), pork ribs, pork belly, and chicken skewers himself along with key aides, including Chief of Staff Jeong Jin-seok and three other chiefs and seven senior secretaries, all of whom attended. In particular, he personally served kimchi jjigae made with the "Yoon Suk-yeol recipe" to the reporters. Kimchi jjigae is the dish President Yoon has said he is most confident in since his presidential candidacy. He also made rolled omelets in front of the reporters and shared them.
This was the first time in about a year that President Yoon dined with the press corps. It was the first time since he unexpectedly appeared at a reporters' luncheon event on May 2 last year in the "Pine Grass" yard in front of the Presidential Office.
The dinner with the press on this day is interpreted as part of President Yoon's efforts to strengthen communication as he enters his third year in office. After the April 10 general election defeat, President Yoon pledged to "start by changing myself" and vowed to enhance communication. He also held a press conference on the 2nd anniversary of his inauguration on the 9th.
The dinner menu included Yeosu Dolsan mustard leaf kimchi, Namdo cabbage kimchi, gimbap, rolled omelets, beef bulgogi, kimchi pancakes, rice from Icheon and Dangjin, Jeju pork belly, sausages, marinated pork ribs, chicken leg skewers, kimchi jjigae, Wando abalone, Chodang corn, potatoes from Gangwon Province, onions from Muan, mushrooms from Jangheung, Andong Hanwoo beef, shrimp pineapple skewers, japchae, and more.
