Nightingale Oath Ceremony Held
The Department of Nursing at Yeungjin College (President Choi Jaeyoung) held the 38th Nightingale Pledge Ceremony on the afternoon of the 24th in the International Seminar Room on campus, where students preparing for clinical practice lit candles to inherit the noble spirit of Nightingale.
Over 250 people, including nursing students, their parents, President Choi Jaeyoung, faculty and staff, and alumni of the Department of Nursing, attended the ceremony to congratulate the students taking the Nightingale Pledge.
Choi Jaeyoung, President of Yeungjin College, is delivering an encouragement speech at the Nightingale Pledge ceremony.
A total of 172 second-year students, including Kang Gaeun, who are about to begin clinical practice, participated in the candle-lighting ceremony to inherit Nightingale's noble spirit and took the Nightingale Pledge, vowing to dedicate themselves to the well-being of those they care for.
The event continued with an encouraging speech by President Choi Jaeyoung, a congratulatory address by Kim Miyoung, Head of the Nursing Department at Chilgok Kyungpook National University Hospital, a celebratory performance, gift presentations, and the awarding of scholarships from alumni currently working in the field.
President Choi Jaeyoung of Yeungjin College, in his encouraging speech, said, "Nightingale taught us that nursing is not just about caring for diseases but caring for people," and added, "I hope you will become true Nightingales who practice responsibility and vocation with genuine nursing spirit, sharing your hearts with patients and even healing their emotional wounds."
In her congratulatory address, Kim Miyoung, Head of the Nursing Department at Chilgok Kyungpook National University Hospital, said, "Today's Nightingale Pledge Ceremony has become a very meaningful moment for our students to pledge their sense of duty and responsibility as nurses. Chilgok Kyungpook National University Hospital will work closely with the Department of Nursing at Yeungjin College to help students acquire the latest professional knowledge in the nursing field."
The event featured celebratory performances by senior and junior students, gift presentations, and the awarding of scholarships by alumni currently working in the field, creating a warm atmosphere of encouragement and support for the students about to begin clinical practice.
The Department of Nursing at Yeungjin College achieved a remarkable employment rate of 94.3% in the '2022 Higher Education Institution Graduate Employment Statistics Survey' announced in 2024. In addition, the department received approval from the Ministry of Education to establish a new teacher training program for the 2024 academic year.
Baek Jooyeon, head of the Department of Nursing at Yeungjin College, said, "I congratulate and support the students who are about to begin clinical practice, inheriting the spirit of Nightingale," and added, "Our department has achieved an employment rate close to 95% with our premium Global Nursing education program. We will actively support students in developing practical, field-oriented competitiveness required in the nursing field and do our best to foster top-class professional nurses in cooperation with the local community."
