Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, visited Dohwaso Children's Park in Yonggang-dong on the afternoon of the 24th, where the village festival ‘Tojeong-a Nolja!’ was held.
Now in its second year, ‘Tojeong-a Nolja!’ was held under the theme ‘Collaboration between the mid-Joseon Dynasty and the modern era,’ featuring various stage performances, historical events, food markets, and sharing markets.
On this day, Mayor Park Gang-su expressed his gratitude in his greeting, saying, “I thank the residents and the Yonggang-dong Festival Promotion Committee for preparing today’s festival with a Joseon Dynasty concept to honor Tojeong Lee Ji-ham,” and added, “Mapo District is also doing its best to create a distinctive place that reflects the historical significance of Tojeong, so we ask for your continued interest.”
Following this, Mayor Park Gang-su and the residents announced the successful start of the ‘Tojeong-a Nolja!’ festival by performing a traditional rice cake pounding (tteok breaking) performance.
At Mangwon-dong World Cup Market, a ‘Global Cultural Festival’ that attracted the attention of residents and tourists was held, and Mayor Park Gang-su visited the site.
Mayor Park Gang-su toured the site where the ‘World Cup Beer Festival,’ one of the events of the ‘Global Cultural Festival,’ was taking place, then moved to the stage where the opening ceremony was held and delivered a congratulatory speech, saying, “I hope the Global Cultural Festival becomes a hotter festival than the World Cup fever, and Mapo District will do its best to revitalize the market and commercial district.”
