Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon is attending a meeting with the delegation of French industrial federation companies visiting Korea on the 24th, discussing current issues such as investment attraction.
Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon met on the 24th with a visiting delegation from France's largest economic organization, the 'Mouvement des Entreprises de France (MEDEF International),' to discuss investment attraction measures and more.
MEDEF International is France's largest private economic organization, comprising approximately 173,000 companies, and visited Korea on the 22nd to engage with government ministries and major domestic corporations.
The visiting business delegation consisted of 17 businesspeople from 11 companies active in various industries such as power decarbonization, semiconductors, and automobiles, including Air Liquide, OPMobility, and Pasqal.
On the last day of their visit, the delegation arranged a separate meeting to invite Governor Kim Dong-yeon.
Governor Kim was the only domestic local government head the delegation met during their visit. Philippe Bertoux, the French Ambassador to Korea, also attended the meeting.
At the meeting, Governor Kim said, "Just as I was warmly welcomed in Paris during my visit to the ?le-de-France region four months ago, I want to warmly welcome you. I welcome you with the dynamic spirit of Gyeonggi Province." He added, "Like the witty Asterix and the unyielding Obelix, the dynamic duo of French comics who effectively resisted the Roman army, I hope Gyeonggi Province and the French business community will join hands, cooperate, and open a new chapter of synergy, leading to a prosperous future for all."
Governor Kim also urged the attending companies to cooperate in Gyeonggi Province's key strategic industries. The strategic industries he introduced include ▲ decarbonization projects by energy service companies such as carbon neutrality and RE100 policies ▲ the Gyeonggi International Airport project ▲ operation of the mobility testbed in Siheung City, and the Gyeonggi-type smart factory project.
Among the companies attending the meeting, one expressed an immediate intention to invest approximately 70 billion KRW in the province.
Right after the meeting, Governor Kim held an interview with French journalists, discussing Gyeonggi Province's strengths, referred to as 'Little Korea' in France, as well as future political, economic development, and social issues.
Earlier, in January of this year, Governor Kim visited France and met with Valerie Pecresse, Governor of ?le-de-France, to discuss cooperation on carbon neutrality and innovative industries.
Gyeonggi Province expects to expand economic exchanges with France in various fields such as semiconductors, energy, and defense, leveraging this meeting with MEDEF International as an opportunity.
