Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, will expand the ‘Visiting Welfare Counseling Office’ operated for citizens' rights protection to all 21 neighborhoods.
The ‘Visiting Welfare Counseling Office’ is a project where social welfare officers visit citizens who cannot receive welfare services for various reasons, provide welfare information, and connect them to necessary services.
Gwangsan-gu has so far operated the Visiting Welfare Counseling Office mainly in areas with national rental housing and densely populated vulnerable groups. Last year, as of November 29, 2023, it provided customized welfare services to 184 people and resolved citizens' questions about welfare.
This year, the operation area will be expanded to all 21 neighborhoods of Gwangsan-gu, and the target group will be broadened from vulnerable groups to include youth and all citizens.
The purpose is to ensure that any citizen can know the welfare information suitable and necessary for them and enjoy benefits in a timely manner.
On the 16th, a welfare counseling office was held at Gwangju Songjeong Station Square, and plans are underway to open the Visiting Welfare Counseling Office at locations with high foot traffic.
A Gwangsan-gu official stated, “We will continue efforts to actively inform welfare information and connect services so that no citizen misses out on benefits due to lack of awareness of annually changing welfare services.”
