10,000 Foreign Tourists Enjoy 'Beer and Dakgangjeong Party'... On the 25th at Incheon Port

An event where over 10,000 foreign tourists enjoy beer and Dakgangjeong will take place in Incheon.

Incheon City announced that, in collaboration with the Incheon Tourism Organization, it will hold the "2nd 1883 Incheon Maekgang Party" on the afternoon of the 25th at the Incheon Port Sangsang Platform. The number 1883 refers to the year Incheon Port opened, and "Maekgang" is derived from "maekju" (beer) and "dakgangjeong" (sweet crispy fried chicken). Dakgangjeong is a famous local delicacy in Incheon.

This event, organized for the second time following last year to promote the history of Incheon as an open port and to revitalize the attraction of foreign tourists, is expected to be attended by more than 10,000 foreign tourists from over 10 countries including China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Vietnam, the United States, and Russia.

Among them, tourists from the Chinese-speaking region account for about 60% of the total, and except for some members of cultural and artistic groups such as the China Qipao (旗袍) Association, most are participants in package tour products. The first Maekgang Party held at the same location in June last year was attended by 3,000 foreign tourists.

The city and the organization plan to provide each foreign tourist attending this year’s event with one can (500ml) of local beer and 300g of Dakgangjeong free of charge. Additionally, 18 food trucks will be operated to showcase various flavors of Incheon to foreigners, and attractions such as K-pop performances, Taekwondo demonstrations, Army military band concerts, drama OST performances, and nighttime drone shows have been prepared.

Foreigners attending the Maekgang Party are expected to stay in Incheon for more than two nights and visit major tourist sites. Incheon City estimates that the economic ripple effect from their spending will exceed 14 billion KRW.
