Explosive Foreign Interest in the '2024 Cheonan K-Culture Expo'

Foreigners' interest is heating up for the '2024 Cheonan K-Culture Expo,' held to promote the excellence of global Hallyu.


Taking place at the Independence Hall until the 26th, this expo offers a variety of content including exhibitions, performances, experiences, and industry forums that encompass the history and future value of K-Culture.


The traditional experience booths, consisting of five themes such as the 'Hangeul Zone' created to widely promote the excellence and charm of Hangeul?the starting point of K-Culture?traditional embroidery, hanji paper, knots, tea ceremony, and traditional games, are bustling as popular courses of this expo.


Throughout the venue, visitors can experience wearing hanbok, making it another attraction to see people taking commemorative photos or participating in experience events dressed in hanbok.


Ambassadors from two countries including the Philippines and Ecuador, U.S. military personnel and families stationed at Camp Humphreys in Pyeongtaek, foreign government officials, and international students are visiting in large numbers to experience the diverse charms of K-Culture from tradition to modernity.

Additionally, about 10 foreign influencers representing various countries will promote Cheonan’s tourist resources such as the K-Culture Expo, Taejosan Forest Leisure Facilities, Taejosan Wanggeon-gil, and Gakwonsa Temple during a 1-night, 2-day schedule from the 25th to the 26th.


Demo Faith (female), a trainee participating in the K2H program for foreign local government officials from Zimbabwe, said, “When I thought of Hallyu culture, I thought of K-pop and fashion, but at this expo, I learned about various Korean cultures such as webtoons, traditional games, and hanbok.”


Mayor Park Sang-don said, “Now, Cheonan City will become a cultural city representing K-Culture based on refined cultural prosperity and an attractive city that captivates the eyes of people worldwide. I hope everyone fully enjoys the newly established diverse world of K-Culture in Cheonan along with the 2024 Cheonan K-Culture Expo.”
