Hosted by the county and organized by the Donghak Peasant Revolution Memorial Association, this commemorative event was prepared to re-examine the historical significance of the Jangseong Hwangryong Donghak Peasant Revolution battle and to inherit and develop its noble spirit.

The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. on the 27th with a pre-ceremony performance, followed by a report on the progress of the Donghak Peasant Revolution, recitation of the 12 articles of reform, commemorative speeches, congratulatory speeches, and a poetry reading of "The Eyes of Joseon."

Hwangryongjeonjeok (No. 356, Sinhori, Hwangryong-myeon, designated as National Historic Site No. 406 in 1998) is the fierce battleground of the "Jangseong Hwangryongchon Battle" fought in 1894 between the Donghak Peasant Revolution army and the government forces.

The Donghak army, armed with bamboo jangtae spears and bamboo spears, achieved a great victory against the government forces equipped with modern weapons such as rifles and artillery, laying the foundation for the later capture of Jeonju Fortress.

Currently, a park commemorating the victory of the Hwangryongchon battle has been established here, with the Victory Memorial Tower shaped like a bamboo spear drawing particular attention.

The county participates in inheriting the Donghak spirit by supporting the budget for the annual victory commemoration ceremony held at Hwangryongjeonjeok.

Governor Kim Han-jong said, "I hope the 130th Anniversary Jangseong Donghak Peasant Revolution Victory Commemoration Ceremony will be a valuable opportunity to honor the noble spirit of the Donghak ancestors and to reflect on the values of human respect and the realization of equality."
