The Institute of Humanities at Chosun University, together with the Regional Humanities Center of the Humanities Korea Plus Project Group, will hold the 2024 Humanities Colloquium.
This colloquium will be held from May to August on the fourth Friday of each month from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., inviting experts from various fields under the theme "Beyond 'Every Man for Himself'? Social Gaps and Inequality in the Post-Corona Era."
On the 24th, Professor Kwon Beom-cheol from the University of Seoul will give a lecture titled . Professor Kwon will introduce the concept and practical approaches of the 'commons,' a social relationship and system where people live together. His related publications include "Theoretical Terrain of the Commons," "Commoning Home and Family," and "Ecological Crisis and Conditions of Care."
On June 28, Professor Jang Su-hee from Dong-A University will lecture on . As a female humanities researcher from a local area, Professor Jang will present academic and practical possibilities that transcend social hierarchies. Her related works include "Activities and Aspects of Regional Alternative Humanities Movements" and "Research on Japanese Military Comfort Women Narrative Materials."
On July 26, teacher Kang Ji-na from Dongpae High School will conduct an online lecture titled . As a high school teacher and youth policy expert, Kang will explore the intersections of education, labor, and welfare through the growth stories of impoverished youth. Related publications include "Coping Mechanisms of Families and Youth in Poverty Transmission" and "How Do Poor Children Become Adults?"
Finally, on August 23, Professor Jeong Ji-hee from Chosun University will lecture on . Professor Jeong, an expert with many years of experience in special education, will introduce the experiences of disability and the challenges of special education. Related publications include "Exploring Perceptions and Experiences of Political Participation among Young Adults with Developmental Disabilities" and "Exploring Pre-service Teachers' Experiences in Special Education Introduction Courses and Support Measures for Inclusive Education Implementation."
The Chosun University Humanities Colloquium is open to citizens, students, faculty, and the general public, and will be held both in-person and online.
