Haenam-gun Strengthens Dementia Management Policies for Healthy Aging

Building a Comprehensive Dementia Safety Net Through One-Stop Management

Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Myung Hyun-kwan) is making meaningful efforts for a happy old age.


According to the county on the 23rd, a one-stop system for early screening and dementia management has recently been established to actively protect the health of residents.


The dementia management project, centered on the Haenam-gun Dementia Safety Center, is strengthening integrated services for early detection, treatment, and management of dementia patients.


In particular, great emphasis is placed on building a dementia safety net through customized services, aiming to guarantee the quality of life and safety of dementia patients.

The county conducts dementia screening tests for residents aged 60 and over to actively pursue early detection and treatment. The public health center offers free early dementia screening and provides various supports such as treatment cost assistance and daily necessities for dementia patients.


Additionally, the Haenam-gun Dementia Safety Center operates various programs for dementia patients. It runs shelters, family classes, and dementia prevention classes to provide customized services needed by dementia patients and their families.


Measures such as issuing wandering identification tags and distributing wandering detectors are also implemented to ensure the safety of dementia patients.


Haenam-gun is actively working to improve dementia awareness and create a dementia-friendly environment together with residents. By expanding the designation of dementia partners, dementia overcoming leading organizations, and dementia safety affiliated stores, efforts are being made to foster a dementia-friendly community.


Haenam-gun is taking various measures for a healthy old age and is effectively operating policies and systems for dementia prevention and management to take responsibility for the health of its residents.


In particular, to improve negative perceptions of dementia, the county is expanding the designation of dementia partners, dementia overcoming leading organizations, and dementia safety affiliated stores to create a dementia-friendly environment in the community.


A county official said, “We will do our best to ensure that the Dementia Safety Center plays a central role in not only preventing and early detecting dementia but also creating a community where people with dementia can live with peace of mind.”
