Seo-gu announced on the 23rd that it enacted an ordinance with this content last March and will hold the "1st Youth Day" commemorative ceremony at Youth Square on the 25th.
The ceremony on this day will proceed under the theme "Youth Enjoying Spring," including the proclamation of Seo-gu Youth Day, the reading of the Good Seo-gu Youth Charter, and awards for exemplary youth and those who have contributed to youth development and protection.
In particular, as representatives of the youth, students Kim Haram (Dongmyeong Middle School, Grade 1) and Choi Yuseong (Yudeok Elementary School, Grade 5) will take the stage to announce the Youth Charter, which states that "As subjects of life who think and choose independently and actively participate, they enjoy opportunities for autonomy and participation, practice sharing with a warm heart for neighbors in need, and live together with those who are easily marginalized as good youth of the good city Seo-gu."
On this day, Seo-gu will also operate booths for play, experience, food, and busking where youth can freely enjoy and communicate.
In the play zone, activities such as playing ttakji-chigi (Korean paper tile game), traditional games, and an OX quiz to learn about policies for out-of-school youth will be held, while the experience zone will offer making pinwheels, eco-bags, flowerpots, and psychological tests.
Additionally, in the busking zone, youth clubs will participate and showcase performances including Nanta (Korean percussion show), dance, taekwondo, and band performances.
From the 26th to the 31st, during Seo-gu Youth Week, seven youth facilities in the district, including Seo-gu Youth Training Center, Seo-gu Youth Culture House, and Seo-gu Out-of-School Youth Support Center, will host specialized programs and a stamp tour event.
On the 1st of next month, the 1st anniversary event of the Seo-gu Youth Dream Nuri Center will be held.
Kim Ikang, Mayor of Seo-gu, said, "As a good city, Seo-gu has the duty to support and take responsibility so that young people can grow confidently as masters of their own lives. Seo-gu Youth Day is a day when all 290,000 Seo-gu residents unite to cheer for the youth."
He added, "We will expand opportunities and challenges where children can freely pursue their dreams, continuously communicate with youth, and actively promote good policies for youth."
