Nam-gu District of Daegu City will host the '2024 Apsan Coffee Festival' at Nam-gu Citizen Sports Square from the 25th to the 26th to revitalize the Apsan Cafe Street and promote the local coffee culture.
In Nam-gu, Daegu, unique cafes are clustered around Apsan, forming the Apsan Cafe Street. Recently, many specialty coffee roasting businesses have opened, making it a popular destination for coffee lovers. This event aims to boost the Apsan Cafe Street and promote the local coffee industry and culture.
This is the second time the coffee festival is being held, following last year's event. Thirty-five coffee businesses and nine bakery businesses will participate, with companies not only from Daegu but also from Gangwon-do and Gyeonggi-do, making it a nationwide coffee festival. Notably, this year a bakery section has been newly established, offering a variety of desserts such as bread and cookies that pair well with coffee.
All participating coffee businesses will offer discounts on Americano, and visitors can sample and enjoy each shop's signature menu items. After the event, detailed information such as store locations will be provided online via QR codes to encourage continued visits.
At the coffee experience center, operated in collaboration with the Daegu Coffee Association and local coffee brand Coffeemyeongga, visitors can enjoy a variety of activities such as discovering their coffee preferences, making drip bags, and experiencing drum roasting, providing an opportunity to get even closer to coffee.
In the newly established bakery section with nine booths, visitors can try famous local breads and desserts, including the 'Daegu Apsan Sand' from Bojeongdang Apsan, which won the grand prize at the 2022 Daegu Signature Dessert Contest. In particular, the Daegu Nam-gu branch of the Korea Bakery Association (headed by Koo Minhoe) will sell freshly baked bread on-site at affordable prices.
Nam-gu District Mayor Cho Jaegu said, "I hope you will make delicious memories with fragrant coffee and bread at the beautiful Apsan in Nam-gu," and added, "With this Apsan Coffee Festival, I hope that Apsan will become synonymous with coffee, and that Daegu's coffee culture and industry will take another step forward centered around Apsan."
