Flower Bridges Established at 10 Locations Including Daedonggyo, Gajegyo, and Je1 Chisugyo
On the 23rd, Dong-gu District in Daejeon announced that it installed flower-decorated pots on 10 bridges along Daedongcheon Stream to create a pleasant and beautiful cityscape.
Last year, the district planted 15,000 flowers, including marigolds, on the railings of five bridges from Daedonggyo to Gajegyo, receiving positive feedback from residents.
This year, an additional five bridges?Je2 Chisugyo, Je1 Chisugyo, Daesingyo, Saedeulmoegyo, and Samgagyo?were included, planting over 40,000 Wave Petunias to create a pink floral wave across 10 bridges. Wave Petunias bloom in pink or purple hues and grow in a long, trailing shape. Compared to other varieties, they have a longer blooming period, allowing for extended enjoyment.
Some of the flowers planted this time were sourced from the flower production complex in Samgwe-dong, Dong-gu, helping to reduce the budget.
Park Hee-jo, head of Dong-gu District Office, said, “Like the flower language of petunias, which means ‘Being with you makes my heart happy,’ we hope people walking along Daedongcheon Stream can feel a small moment of everyday happiness with the beautiful flowers.”
