The integrated transportation discount card of Gyeonggi Province, ‘The Gyeonggi Pass (The 경기패스)’, has surpassed 530,000 subscribers just 20 days after the project started.

According to Gyeonggi Province on the 23rd, as of the 20th, the total number of nationwide subscribers to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s K-Pass linked with The Gyeonggi Pass was counted at 1.3 million. Among them, The Gyeonggi Pass subscribers number 530,000. Of these 530,000 subscribers, 230,000 are new subscribers, and 300,000 are existing users who switched from the Altteul Transportation Card. The number of new subscribers to The Gyeonggi Pass accounts for 50% of the total new K-Pass subscribers (450,000).

The number of subscribers in Incheon and Seoul, metropolitan areas like Gyeonggi Province, are 110,000 and 400,000 respectively, with Gyeonggi Province accounting for over 40% of the nationwide K-Pass subscribers.

As the number of The Gyeonggi Pass subscribers surged beyond initial expectations, receiving enthusiastic responses, Gyeonggi Province held a meeting with city and county department heads on the 23rd to request cooperation for stable financial securing and to reach residents in promotional blind spots.

At the meeting, Kim Sang-su, Director of the Gyeonggi Province Transportation Bureau, explained the progress of The Gyeonggi Pass project and the subscriber status by city and county, and introduced promotional activities independently conducted by Gyeonggi Province. He then shared excellent promotional cases from three regions: Uijeongbu, Namyangju, and Bucheon. These three regions made efforts to promote The Gyeonggi Pass through YouTube, websites, local administrative welfare centers, and electronic signboards at light rail stations, with staff even appearing directly on YouTube.

Director Kim said, "As the number of The Gyeonggi Pass subscribers rapidly increases, cooperation from cities and counties is very necessary. We will all join forces and collaborate to ensure that all residents can receive more benefits."

The Gyeonggi Pass expands the K-Pass’s monthly limit of 60 rides to unlimited and refunds 20% of monthly public transportation costs (30% for youth in their 20s and 30s, 20% for general users aged 40 and above, and 53% for low-income groups).

The age range for youth eligible for the 30% refund has also been expanded from 19?34 years old to 19?39 years old. Additionally, the ‘Gyeonggi Province Children and Youth Transportation Cost Support Project,’ which provides an annual support of 240,000 KRW to reduce transportation costs for children and adolescents who are not eligible for the project, has been accepting applications since the 2nd.
