Gochang-gun announced on the 23rd that it was selected as an excellent local government again this year in the 5th Seasonal Fine Dust Management Implementation Evaluation for Cities and Counties of Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province, following last year.
Accordingly, the institution will receive a commendation and a prize of 2 million won.
The county is promoting projects to reduce exhaust emissions, including support for converting children's school vehicles to LPG vehicles, early retirement support for old diesel vehicles, installation of particulate matter reduction devices, and engine replacement projects.
In addition, the support project for converting children's school vehicles to LPG vehicles is also gaining momentum. A subsidy of 5 million won per vehicle is provided when converting old diesel vehicles to LPG school vehicles.
This year, the project for two daycare centers has been completed, and it is expected to greatly help improve the living environment of children vulnerable to fine dust.
The early retirement support project and the particulate matter reduction device installation project started in March this year, and currently, about 300 beneficiaries have been selected and the projects are underway.
Kang Pil-gu, head of the Environmental Sanitation Division of Gochang-gun, said, "We are making efforts to improve air quality not only during the seasonal fine dust management period but throughout the year," and added, "We ask for the participation of many residents in projects such as the early retirement support for old diesel vehicles and exhaust emission reduction projects to join in improving air quality."
