"Seeking Rebound in the Wood Industry" Korea Forestry Promotion Institute Holds Conference in Daejeon

The Korea Forestry Promotion Institute announced on the 23rd that it will hold the '2024 Wood Industry Promotion Conference' at the KW Convention Center in Daejeon.


The conference is organized as a gathering of about 300 industry stakeholders, including companies and associations in the wood industry sector, to share recent industry trends and seek ways to revitalize the wood industry.

On the day, the Forestry Promotion Institute will conduct the conference with a common session (morning) and four breakout sessions (afternoon).


The common session will open with a welcoming address by Choi Mu-yeol, President of the Forestry Promotion Institute, and a congratulatory speech by Lim Sang-seop, Deputy Director of the Korea Forest Service. Following this, Jo Young-hee, Director of the Wood Industry Division at the Korea Forest Service, will introduce the 'Wood Industry Policy Direction,' and the Forestry Promotion Institute will conclude the schedule with presentations on 'Wood Industry Trends and Prospects' and 'Regulatory Reform and Awareness Improvement for Expanding Wood Utilization.'


The breakout sessions will cover four topics: ▲ Strengthening Competitiveness of the Wood Industry ▲ Wood Utilization and Quality Management ▲ Fostering a Sustainable Forest Biomass Industry ▲ Enhancing Transparency of Imported Wood, providing time for conference participants to share their opinions.


On-site, in connection with the conference, a meeting will be held where President Choi Mu-yeol will meet group leaders from sectors such as the wood industry, companies designated for new wood product technologies, wood grading evaluators, and the plywood board industry to listen to voices from the field.


President Choi Mu-yeol said, "The conference is a place where field stakeholders in the wood industry gather to share the latest industry trends and explore ways to revitalize Korea's wood industry," adding, "The Forestry Promotion Institute will continue to engage with the wood industry to lead efforts to expand the foundation for revitalizing the domestic wood industry."
