Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) material company EM&I announced on the 23rd that it has obtained a 'Venture Business Confirmation Certificate' through the venture business confirmation system implemented by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, recognizing its technological capabilities in Quantum Dot Light Emitting Diode (QD-LED) materials. Along with this, it was also selected for the 'Gyeonggi-do Star Company Development Project.'
The venture business confirmation system is a program stipulated under the 'Special Measures for the Promotion of Venture Businesses' that identifies and supports companies meeting certain criteria, with outstanding technological innovation and business growth potential. With this certification, the company is expected to have access to favorable policy funds and investment attraction opportunities in the future.
Additionally, the company was selected for the 'Gyeonggi-do Star Company Development Project' organized by the Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency. The Star Company Development Project selects small and medium-sized enterprises with high growth potential among technology-innovative and export-driven companies and fosters them into strong small and medium-sized enterprises or mid-sized companies through customized support.
Through this selection, EM&I will receive partial funding for the QD-LED related project titled 'Development of Inorganic Electron Transport Layer Materials and Ink for Next-Generation Displays to Reduce Carbon Emissions.' The company stated, "We will strive harder to strengthen our technological capabilities related to next-generation QD-LED displays and enhance our corporate value."
QD-LED displays are a next-generation technology that implements RGB (Red, Green, Blue) pixels through a printing process using self-emissive ultra-fine semiconductor particles called quantum dots. They offer excellent color purity and can reduce manufacturing costs. Samsung Display recently unveiled the industry's first 18.2-inch QD-LED at 'SID 2024,' the world's largest display exhibition held in the United States, and the related paper received the 'Best Paper Award of the Year' selected by SID.
