Nationwide Tour with First Mozart Album... A Time to Face Myself in the World of Purity

'The Seeker on the Keyboard' Pianist Baek Geon-woo Recital

The pianist Baek Geon-woo, known as the ascetic on the keyboard, will perform Mozart on June 1 at the Gangdong Art Center.

The Gangdong Cultural Foundation (Chairman Lee Soo-hee) announced on the 23rd that Baek Geon-woo's piano recital will be held at 5 p.m. on June 1 at the Gangdong Art Center Grand Theater Hangang.

Pianist Baek Geon-woo (78) has been devoted to the piano for 68 years, practicing daily without fail even after passing seventy, constantly challenging himself with new pieces. Recently, he performed works by Chopin, Schumann, and Granados, and this year he plans to meet audiences with Mozart's music.

Mozart was also a subject of contemplation for him, who has played the piano for decades. Wanting to convey the living purity somewhere within Mozart's music, he connected the 'as is' music that Mozart captured in the score with the 'innocence' of a child and found his answer.

Having released his first Mozart album in his life, he plans to tour about ten cities including the Gangdong Art Center, and he expects this Mozart performance to be a time for the audience to face their true selves within the world of purity he presents.

Shim Woo-seop, CEO of the Gangdong Cultural Foundation, said, "It is an honor to host pianist Baek Geon-woo's first Mozart tour recital on the Gangdong Art Center stage," adding, "All five classical series, starting with the KBS Symphony Orchestra in Classical Series 1, followed by Baek Geon-woo, the Munich Chamber Orchestra, Maria Jo?o Pires, and the Novus Quartet, have received great attention. Especially, do not miss the Mozart story told by the maestro who has passed seventy."

For more details, please check the Gangdong Cultural Foundation website or contact by phone for guidance.

Meanwhile, the Gangdong Art Center operates a year-round classical series consisting of five performances, and Baek Geon-woo's recital is the second event following the 'New Year's Concert with the KBS Symphony Orchestra' held last January.
