"Special meals served daily like a feast... Thank you"
Netizens say, "Take good care of your health while training"
A soldier is gaining attention for proudly referring to his military unit's meals as "special dishes."
"I want to brag"... Looking at the tray, there are Jajangmyeon, spiral potatoes, and more
On the 22nd, the military-related community "Delivering Army Training Center News" (Yukdaejeon) revealed photos of meals within a unit sent by an active-duty officer serving in the 6th Division.
The author said, "I want to report on our unit's meals," adding, "Even normally, I thought our unit's meals were tastier than any other unit's, but recently, the supply officer who was newly assigned has been plating the food so beautifully, and every day the meals come out like special dishes, so I wanted to brag and report this." He continued, "I am grateful to the cooks and chefs of the 6th Division Information and Communications Battalion who work hard and quietly behind the scenes to prepare delicious food, as well as the supply officer."
The tray in the photo attached by the author contained Jajangmyeon, spiral potatoes, sweet and sour pork, and more. Other menus such as so-tteok so-tteok (skewered sausage and rice cakes), tuna bibimbap, and dumpling soup also caught attention. Netizens who saw the photo responded with comments like "Take good care of your health while training," "This is what should be served, thank you," and "Our soldiers should eat this deliciously. I'm proud."
Last July, the Army faced backlash over 'poor meals'

Previously, in July last year, there was controversy when claims arose that poor meals were provided to soldiers quarantined due to COVID-19 in a military unit. At that time, a netizen who identified himself as the older brother of a soldier said, "My younger brother sent me photos of the quarantine meals he received during his 5-day isolation, and they were so poor that I wanted to hear others' opinions and report this." The photos showed two pieces of donggeurangttaeng (Korean meat patties), two slices of grilled ham, and a few pieces of kimchi, sparking a 'poor meal' controversy.
As the controversy grew, the unit stated, "We confirmed that during the process of providing lunch boxes to soldiers quarantined due to recent COVID-19 cases, meals that did not meet the standard portion (per person) were provided." They added, "We will re-examine and improve overall living conditions to prevent similar incidents from recurring and pay close attention to this matter."
