21st 59th Invention Day Ceremony
Development of Import-Dependent Olefin-Based Composite Fiber 'Purebeo'... Total 18 Patents
Dong-eun Kim, a researcher at Huvis R&D Center, received a commendation from the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy for his contribution to the development of olefin-based composite fibers for hygiene products (brand name 'Purever'), advancing the domestic hygiene material industry.
Huvis, a specialized chemical fiber material company, announced on the 22nd that researcher Kim received the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award at the 59th Invention Day ceremony hosted by the Korean Intellectual Property Office and organized by the Korea Invention Promotion Association. Invention Day is an event to honor inventors who have contributed to national industrial development.
Joining Huvis R&D Center in 2009, researcher Kim played a key role in developing the 'Purever' technology, contributing to the localization of olefin-based composite fibers that had previously relied on imports. To ensure continuous growth of the product, he helped obtain international certifications proving human safety, such as Germany's Dermatest and Switzerland's Oeko-Tex, thereby contributing to increased exports. In addition to hygiene materials, he developed new technologies applicable to various fields including mask filters, tea bags, and food packaging paper, securing a total of 18 patents and enhancing product competitiveness.
Purever is softer than regular polyester and features excellent hydrophilicity, hydrophobicity, and breathability, making it a premium material for hygiene products such as diapers and sanitary pads. It can be processed by hot air bonding without the use of adhesive chemicals, thus generating no volatile harmful substances. In 2014, the product was recognized for its excellence and selected as a World-Class Product by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and KOTRA.
Seok-hyun Kim, CEO of Huvis, said, "Following last year's Invention Day award for meta-aramid technology, we are pleased to demonstrate Huvis's differentiated technology in hygiene materials this year. We will continue to strengthen research and development of high-performance differentiated and eco-friendly products to grow into a leading global material company beyond Korea."
