Scheduled Adoption of Party Resolution Opposing 'Corporal Chae Special Investigation Act'
"We Will Unite Our Strength Without the Slightest Disruption"
Also Plans to Meet with Yoo Ui-dong

Choo Kyung-ho, floor leader of the People Power Party, urged the High-ranking Officials’ Crime Investigation Unit (PCC) investigating the death of Marine Corporal Chae on the 22nd to conduct a swift and strict investigation. Floor leader Choo announced that the party plans to adopt an official stance opposing the 'Corporal Chae Special Prosecutor Act.'


On the same day, Floor leader Choo held a meeting with senior members to discuss related issues, including the 'Corporal Chae Special Prosecutor Act.' President Yoon Suk-yeol exercised his right to request reconsideration of the special prosecutor act the day before. The special prosecutor act is expected to be resubmitted to the plenary session before the end of the 21st National Assembly.

After the meeting, Floor leader Choo told reporters, "Regarding the special prosecutor act, the Democratic Party plans to push forward with a meeting on the 28th, and if the Speaker of the National Assembly convenes a plenary session, we will all gather without any hesitation and unite to assert our party’s position on this matter."


He also demanded a prompt investigation by the PCC. Floor leader Choo said, "Yesterday, Oh Dong-woon was officially appointed as the head of the PCC," adding, "I once again emphasize the need for a swift and strict investigation into the Corporal Chae case and for results to be delivered as soon as possible." He continued, "The fastest way to resolve various suspicions is for the PCC to produce investigation results," and urged, "I call on Director Oh to lead the PCC well and promptly report the investigation results to the public."


In the People Power Party, following lawmakers Kim Woong and Ahn Cheol-soo, lawmaker Yoo Ui-dong publicly expressed his intention to support the special prosecutor act in the reconsideration vote held the day before. Regarding this, Floor leader Choo said, "I understand that Lawmaker Yoo also expressed his intention through a broadcast," adding, "I have not heard directly yet. Including myself, we plan to have conversations with the lawmakers to confirm their true intentions and discuss the matter."


Meanwhile, Democratic Party lawmaker Park Ju-min sent a letter to all People Power Party lawmakers on the same day, appealing for their support of the 'Corporal Chae Special Prosecutor Act.' Lawmaker Park stated, "The reconsideration vote will be conducted anonymously," and earnestly requested, "Please vote according to your conscience for the people, and I sincerely ask you to have the courage to do so."
