Over 17,751 Job Consultations and 1,361 Employment Successes in One Year... Playing a Key Role as an Integrated Job Support Hub
Mr. A, residing in Dongjak-gu, was in a situation where he had to engage in economic activities despite being over 70 years old, due to difficult family circumstances and the responsibility of caring for a sick family member. However, finding a job was not easy.
In the face of this challenging reality, Mr. A turned to the Dongjak Employment Support Center. Through employment counseling, he was provided with job information and connections to more than 30 recruiting companies in the area, leading to his successful employment as an apartment cleaner.
Since its opening in May last year, the Dongjak Employment Support Center has conducted a total of 17,751 employment consultations and helped 1,361 people find jobs, achieving visible results as a job hub.
The Dongjak District Office (Mayor Park Il-ha) announced that it will hold a commemorative event on the 30th to mark the first anniversary of the Dongjak Employment Support Center, the only integrated job facility in Seoul tailored to all generations from youth to seniors.
The event will be held at 2 p.m. at the Dongjak Employment Support Center (140 Noryangjin-ro, 2nd floor), where Mayor Park Il-ha and other officials will attend to review past achievements and share future visions.
Along with this, various side events such as a visiting job fair and free labor and tax consultations will be held.
The Dongjak Employment Support Center consolidates previously dispersed job services?including the Job Plus Center, Senior Job Center, Noryangjin Youth Job Center, and Dongjak 50+ Center?into one location, providing one-stop support from customized employment counseling to vocational training and job placement.
The district has worked hard to discover about 40,000 job opportunities, connect them with residents seeking counseling, and operate various programs such as job and startup fairs and specialized training for general security guards and care workers to provide job participation opportunities.
This year, the number of job fairs will increase from once a year to four times a year to facilitate employment connections between recruiting companies and job seekers and provide customized employment information. Employment-confirmed vocational training will be strengthened, reflecting local issues and industry characteristics, such as real estate development experts and substitute care teachers.
Additionally, the district has promoted various job projects within the Dongjak 50+ Center to support social contribution activities that enhance personal capabilities for the new middle-aged generation preparing for their second act in life, resulting in 595 re-employments, a 26% increase compared to before the center’s opening last year.
Going forward, the district plans to actively discover customized jobs centered on demand, maximize synergy effects through sustainable job creation in cooperation and collaboration with external organizations.
Mayor Park Il-ha of Dongjak-gu said, “The Dongjak Employment Support Center plays a key role as a mecca for employment support by providing tailored job services for all generations from youth to seniors. We will continue to implement various policies to strengthen solid job welfare.”
