Jeonbuk Wanju 'Planned and Special Exhibition Featuring Nature and Food Culture'... Until the 16th of Next Month

Nue Art Hall in Complex Cultural District Hosts 27 Craft Artist Teams

Jeonbuk Wanju Cultural Foundation (Chairman Yu Hee-tae) is presenting two special craft exhibitions under the theme of 'Food Culture and Rest' at the Nuo Art Hall in the Complex Cultural District, together with 27 local craft artists.

This exhibition features over 120 works by craft artists from various fields including ceramics, hanji (traditional Korean paper), woodworking, metalwork, and textiles, showcasing Wanju's high-quality craft culture to the audience.

The curated exhibition, "Embracing Wanju's Food (食, 識, 飾)," is designed to offer a special experience of the harmony between food, culture, and art. It expresses Wanju, a local food sanctuary, through three themes: 'Eating,' 'Decorating,' and 'Interpreting,' shedding new light on the everyday food culture of Wanju in an original way.

The table settings featuring dishes containing Wanju’s food and the scenery of Wanju visible right before the eyes, along with styling that captures Wanju’s nature, pursue a nature-friendly lifestyle.

In the special exhibition "Rest (休) Crafted by Earth and Metal," potter Jin Jeong-wook’s moon jars and metal craft artist Noh Byeong-deuk’s pine trees harmoniously blend to express inclusiveness and strength. The humble form of the moon jar and the resilient image of the pine tree embody the essence of nature, offering visitors a comfortable and profound lingering impression.

Visitors can see Jin’s creative Buncheong ware works using the inhwa (印花) technique and munjado (文字圖), and Noh’s metal craft pieces made primarily from brass and red copper. Walking along the clear and upright pine tree standing between the moon jars like a bright full moon rising, one feels the solitude within the lingering rest crafted by earth and metal.
