Activity Plan Through Simulated Meetings with the Formation of Two Committees
The Shinan County Council in Jeollanam-do (Chairman Kim Hyuk-seong) held the inauguration ceremony for the 1st Shinan County Youth Council on the 17th.
According to the council on the 21st, the Youth Council recruited 18 middle and high school students from the region to guarantee youth participation rights in county administration and to reflect youth opinions in policies. They formed two committees: Administrative Welfare and Industrial Construction, and plan activities through simulated council meetings.

The inauguration ceremony was held in two parts. In the first part, appointment certificates and bouquets were presented to the Shinan County Youth Council members, followed by a greeting from Chairman Kim Hyuk-seong of the Shinan County Council, a reading of the Youth Council members’ pledge, and a commemorative photo session.
In his greeting, Chairman Kim said, “The capabilities and will of the youth will bring a new breeze to local politics,” and urged, “Please carry out your activities with affection and responsibility for the local community.”
The second part consisted of capacity-building education and the election of the chairperson team. The capacity-building education covered the roles of local councils and local autonomy, followed by explanations about the formation of the chairperson team and standing committees, and then the chairperson election took place.
In the election, which had multiple candidates, after listening to each candidate’s platform and subsequent voting, student Kim Min-gyu (Shinan Marine Science High School) was elected as chairperson, and student Lee Jae-dong (Shinan Marine Science High School) was elected as vice-chairperson.
The 1st Shinan County Youth Council members plan various activities such as experiencing council proceedings and legislative proposal activities, discovering and proposing youth policies, and actively participating in a carbon neutrality campaign to represent diverse positions within the local community.
