Meeting on the 22nd with about 100 attendees including the Budget Office Director of the Ministry of Economy and Finance
The Ministry of Economy and Finance will hold the '2024 Local Finance Council' with 17 metropolitan autonomous entities.
According to the Ministry on the 21st, the Local Finance Council is a meeting held annually since 2009 to share the government's fiscal management direction and listen to opinions on local pending projects before budget formulation. The meeting will be held until the 22nd, with about 100 participants including deputy heads of metropolitan autonomous entities and the Budget Director of the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
Kim Dong-il, Budget Director, stated, "Next year's budget plan will focus on establishing a sound fiscal policy while investing intensively in creating an innovation ecosystem, welfare for the vulnerable, and improving future preparedness," adding, "We ask local governments to actively discover projects that can contribute to revitalizing their regions on their own initiative."
In particular, emphasis was placed on actively identifying projects where the region leads in deciding the direction of resource allocation, such as regional revitalization investment funds and university support systems centered on regional innovation. The Ministry of Economy and Finance plans to actively reflect the local governments' project plans received by the 31st in next year's budget after consultations with related ministries and public opinion gathering.
