The Hyunwoo KAIST Academic Award is established by KAIST and sponsored by the Hyunwoo Cultural Foundation to annually select and reward scholars who have made outstanding academic achievements at KAIST.

Through evaluations by the Hyunwoo Foundation selection committee and the KAIST faculty award recommendation committee, KAIST selects one faculty member each year who has achieved academic accomplishments representing KAIST, awarding a plaque and a prize of 10 million KRW. This year marks the 4th year of the award, and the ceremony will be held today (21st) at the Jeong Geun-mo Hall in the KAIST Academic and Cultural Center.

Since January, Professor Oh has been serving as the head of the Department of Management Engineering at KAIST, conducting research that integrates various fields within the scope of business administration, including information systems, marketing, and operations management.

In particular, he focuses on empirical approaches and policy implications that promote human health and well-being and facilitate rational decision-making through information and communication technology (IT) and artificial intelligence technologies.

Professor Oh expressed his gratitude, saying, “I am honored to receive this meaningful award for research related to information and communication technology and artificial intelligence, which are driving recent social changes. I will continue to strive to produce research outcomes that inspire future researchers and have a positive impact on society.”
