Pyeongtaek City to Host History and Culture Experience Education 'Find the Envoy' on 24th-25th

Held in the Area of Gaeksari, Paengseong-eup

Pyeongtaek City in Gyeonggi Province will hold a two-day historical and cultural experience event called "Find the Envoy" on the 24th and 25th in the Gaeksari area of Paengseong-eup.

As part of the Saengsaeng National Heritage Project, this event is hosted by the National Heritage Agency and organized by Woori Munhwa Dalguji, marking its third year. The program is designed as an educational experience depicting a scenario where envoys from foreign countries visit the Gaeksa of Paengseong-eup during the era when Pyeongtaek was known as Paengseonghyeon. The event is planned so that families can enjoy tours, games, and hands-on activities at various key locations.

The event follows a 900-meter route starting from Buyongsan Mountain, passing through the Gaeksa 3-ri Village Hall and Paengseong-eup Administrative Welfare Center (the site of the old government office), and ending at the final destination, Paengseong-eup Gaeksa.

At Buyongsan, the main mountain of the former Paengseonghyeon, participants will learn about the mountain, the story of Gwanga-jeong, play a fortune cookie game, and solve history quizzes.

At the village hall, participants will listen to village stories from elders and share buchimgae (Korean pancakes).

At the third stop, Paengseong-eup Administrative Welfare Center, visitors will hear from a guide about the old government office site and the story of the fragrant pine tree (in front of the marker stone). Traditional games such as rubber shoe throwing and jegichagi (shuttlecock kicking) will be available, along with a history quiz hidden in lottery tickets.

At the final destination, Paengseong-eup Gaeksa, participants will play the game "Mugunghwa Flower Has Bloomed" before entering the Gaeksa to find the hidden Qing Dynasty envoy through a quiz. Finally, participants will conclude the event by writing and sending a handwritten letter to their family, friends, or themselves, commemorating the memories made during the event.

Those wishing to participate can apply in advance through the "Pyeongtaek Event Notifier" on the Pyeongtaek City Hall website.
