Jeju Maritime Police Station (Chief So Byung-yong) announced on the 20th that from next month until July, they will conduct a special crackdown on safety and order violations of powered water leisure vessels at major activity sites (ports, harbors, slipways, etc.) of leisure equipment.
This crackdown was initiated to prevent water leisure safety accidents during the spring to summer recreational season.

The key inspection points for personal leisure equipment include ▲expiration of safety inspection and insurance periods ▲drunk driving ▲unlicensed operation ▲failure to wear safety equipment, focusing mainly on basic safety violations.
In particular, patrols will be strengthened at major departure and arrival points for leisure equipment, and patrol vessels will be operated focusing on areas densely populated with leisure equipment and places with high accident risks to enhance enforcement.
From 2021 to last year, among the 97 major enforcement cases of violations of the 'Water Leisure Safety Act,' there were 31 cases of 'failure to wear safety equipment,' 23 cases of 'non-compliance with navigation rules,' and 23 cases of 'non-compliance with water leisure activity hours.'
A Jeju Maritime Police official said, "The special crackdown is being conducted to prevent water leisure safety accidents during the spring and summer recreational season," and added, "We ask water leisure participants to comply with safety rules for their own safety."
