Local Youth Development, AI-Centered City Leading Landmark Expected
The Smart Talent Development Institute, established as a hub for region-leading SW workforce training, has set up a new training center in downtown Gwangju and is embarking on nurturing local youth who will become key players in the 4th Industrial Revolution.
On the 20th, the Smart Talent Development Institute announced that on the 25th, the Dong-gu headquarters and the Education Support Headquarters will relocate to the Gwangju Building in Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, where they plan to operate 10 training courses.
To this end, the Gwangju Building has been remodeled into an educational facility. Its accessibility is expected to contribute to expanding educational opportunities for youth.
Lecture and education support facilities will be housed from the 2nd to the 8th floor of the building.
Six instructor teams and about 40 support staff will work there. At the Gwangju Building, 10 courses including the K-Digital program, corporate membership SW, and specialized training for responding to industrial structural changes will be conducted.
LG Electronics' DX SCHOOL, which trains SW personnel with an excellent curriculum, will also be located in the Gwangju Building.
In addition to the Dong-gu branch at the Gwangju Building, the Smart Talent Development Institute operates branches in Nam-gu (Songha-dong CGI Center), Seocho-gu in Seoul, and in Suncheon and Mokpo in Jeonnam.
This year, it is running 10 classes of the AI Academy, 21 courses under the Ministry of Employment and Labor's K-Digital Training, 10 specialized training courses for responding to industrial structural changes, and 5 recruitment-linked SW camp courses from the Ministry of Science and ICT.
Through these programs, about 1,300 SW personnel are planned to be trained.
Meanwhile, since its establishment in 2016, the Smart Talent Development Institute has established itself as a HUB for region-leading SW workforce training. Supporting graduate school tuition and more, about 50 instructors developed in-house design and operate differentiated curricula, nurturing SW professionals dedicated to making South Korea a digital powerhouse.
Last year, 1,229 people completed training, and among them, 1,057, or 86%, succeeded in finding employment. It is recognized as making a significant contribution to the entry and employment of youth in SW fields in the Gwangju region.
