Newbility Launches Robot Delivery Service Around Pangyo Station and Seohyeon Area

Implementing Everyday Robot Delivery Service Together with Seongnam-si

Newbility, an autonomous driving robot service company, announced on the 20th that the consortium formed with Seongnam City has been selected for the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's '2024 Regulatory Innovation Robot Demonstration Project' and will provide robot delivery services. It is explained that this is the first case of a local government introducing outdoor autonomous driving robot delivery services since regulations on outdoor mobile robots were lifted in November last year.

Newbility and Seongnam City were finally selected in the regulatory innovation robot demonstration project contest, securing a total project cost of 430 million KRW, including 300 million KRW in national funding. Based on this, starting from August, 10 autonomous delivery robots will be sequentially deployed near Pangyo Station and the Seohyeon-dong area.

This service scenario involves the robot loading products when an order is placed at small and medium-sized merchant stores, autonomously traveling to the destination to deliver to the customer, and then returning to the starting point to finish. The goal is to reduce delivery cost burdens for small and medium-sized merchants and provide economical robot delivery services to citizens.

Lee Sang-min, CEO of Newbility, said, “After the central government’s regulatory relief, we have been able to implement a full-scale urban robot delivery model together with Seongnam City. As this is an opportunity to provide services to local community residents with the local government, we will realize robot delivery services that contribute to daily life based on the technology and service capabilities we have accumulated.”
