Dobong-gu, Coverage for Unexpected Injury Treatment Costs in Daily Life

Now, all Dobong-gu residents who suffer injuries such as fractures or falls in daily life can receive support for their medical expenses.

Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced that the Dobong-gu Resident Safety Insurance (Indemnity Type), reflecting this content, will be implemented from May 20.

Until now, Dobong-gu residents could only receive funeral expenses for injury deaths caused by explosions, fires, collapses, social disasters, or injuries sustained while using public transportation under the existing Dobong-gu Resident Safety Insurance (Fixed Amount Type).

However, since the coverage overlapped with the Seoul Citizen Insurance and did not include coverage for injury medical expenses, the district changed from the existing fixed amount insurance to indemnity insurance.

The coverage includes medical expenses for injuries frequently occurring in daily life (such as fractures, falls, burns) and funeral expenses for injury-related deaths.

The payment amounts are up to 200,000 KRW per person for injury medical expenses (with a 30,000 KRW deductible per claim) and 10 million KRW for injury funeral expenses (no deductible; deaths of persons under 15 years old are excluded according to commercial law).

The eligible subscribers are all residents registered in Dobong-gu, including foreigners registered in Dobong-gu and overseas Koreans who have reported their residence in Dobong-gu. Enrollment is automatic without a separate application process. The same applies to those who move into Dobong-gu from other regions. If a resident moves out of Dobong-gu to another area, the insurance is automatically canceled.

This indemnity-type Dobong-gu Resident Safety Insurance also includes child protection coverage. If a child aged 12 or under is injured in a traffic accident while walking, up to 1 million KRW will be paid for injury treatment expenses (payment amount varies depending on injury grade).

For detailed information regarding how to claim insurance benefits, procedures, and coverage, inquiries can be made at the Hana Insurance consultation desk. Insurance claim forms can be downloaded from the Dobong-gu website.

Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “We changed the Dobong-gu Resident Safety Insurance to an indemnity type so that more residents can benefit. We will continue to prioritize the safety and welfare improvement of residents in our administration.”
