Gyeonggi Province will hold a variety of events over two days from the 25th to the 26th of this month at ‘Dodamso’ (the former governor’s official residence).
On the 20th, Gyeonggi Province announced that it will hold the ‘Dodamso Open House Event’ for the first time this year to introduce the communication space for residents to the public, share it with them, and provide various attractions and entertainment.
This is the first time that Dodamso has opened its doors to all residents for a certain period, rather than inviting specific residents to particular events.
During the event period, any Gyeonggi resident can freely visit Dodamso. The event will be conducted as an eco-friendly event, including the purchase of renewable energy to achieve the province’s RE100 goal and the use of reusable cups as part of the carbon-neutral policy responding to the climate crisis. Artists with opportunity income and disabilities, who work hard despite difficulties, will also participate, providing opportunities to realize social value.
Key open house events include, on the 25th, performances at the Dodamso lawn yard such as ▲Scenery on Bicycle ▲Busking performances by opportunity income artists and artists with disabilities ▲and a performance by Gyeonggi Province’s ambassador Ongals.
On the 26th, there will be busking performances by opportunity income artists and artists with disabilities, a screening of the independent film ‘Makgeolli Will Tell You,’ and a meeting with the director.
Throughout the event period, there will also be an international exchange event exhibition hall, pottery-making experiences, boccia experience for disabled sports, exhibitions of works by artists with disabilities, a book caf?, and a small forest rest area (picnic) in operation.
Dodamso is the new name of the former Gyeonggi governor’s official residence, decided through a naming contest in August 2022, meaning ‘a space that embraces the residents.’
Since its completion in 1967, the governor’s official residence has been used as the living and working space for successive governors. It has now been transformed into a communication space with residents under the 8th elected administration to listen more closely to the voices of the residents.
