Busan and Thailand to Discuss Mutual Exchange and Cooperation at City Hall at 4 PM on the 17th
Mayor Park Hyungjun: "Promoting Cooperation in Tourism, Culture, Environment, Economy, and More"
On the afternoon of the 17th, Busan Mayor Park Hyungjun met with Thai Ambassador to Korea Tanee Sangrat at the International Protocol Room of City Hall to discuss exchange and cooperation measures between Busan and Thailand.
At 4 p.m. on the 17th, Park Hyungjun, Mayor of Busan, meets Tanee Sangrat, Ambassador of Thailand to Korea, at the City Hall International Protocol Office.
Mayor Park welcomed Ambassador Tanee Sangrat, who visited Busan immediately after his appointment, saying, "Congratulations on your new post, and welcome to Busan. I believe Thailand, as a tourism-oriented country blessed with natural beauty, shares many similarities with Korea, especially with Busan."
This visit marks Ambassador Tanee Sangrat's first official visit to Busan since assuming his post and presenting his credentials on May 2 this year.
Mayor Park added, "Since Busan and Bangkok established a sister-city relationship in 2011, and with the 15th anniversary of our friendship coming up the year after next, I hope we can celebrate this milestone with meaningful events and further strengthen the ties between our two cities."
In response, Ambassador Tanee Sangrat said, "Thailand is a leading tourism nation in Asia, and Busan is also a beautiful coastal tourism city, so I believe the two places have much in common," emphasizing the importance of active cooperation in the tourism sector.
Mayor Park continued, "Busan hosts many large-scale festivals representing Asia, such as the Busan International Film Festival, one of the world's top five film festivals, and the One Asia Festival," adding, "I look forward to Busan and Thailand sharing expertise in hosting various international events and to active exchange and cooperation in the fields of culture and tourism."
He also said, "Busan's city vision is 'Busan First to the Future, Green Smart City,' with long-term goals such as realizing carbon neutrality by 2050 and establishing resource circulation infrastructure to create a safe and clean city," and added, "I hope the International Climate Industry Expo scheduled for September this year will become a global platform for deepening cooperation in the environmental sector."
Ambassador Tanee Sangrat responded, "Thailand is also implementing various policies to achieve carbon neutrality," and said, "I look forward to active exchange and cooperation in the environmental field as well."
Finally, Mayor Park concluded the meeting by saying, "Thank you for visiting Busan, and I hope that during your stay in Korea, cooperation in various fields such as culture, tourism, and environment will further advance the friendship between Busan and Thailand."
