Steel Association Hosts the 17th Steel Marathon
"Let's Create New Growth Opportunities Amid Challenging Conditions"
The Korea Iron & Steel Association announced on the 18th that it held the 17th Steel Marathon at Misa Rowing Park in Hanam-si, Gyeonggi Province.
This year's event saw the participation of over 4,500 people from 49 companies, including top CEOs in the steel industry such as Jang In-hwa, Chairman of the Steel Association and POSCO Group, Seo Kang-hyun, President of Hyundai Steel, Lee Hwi-ryeong, Vice Chairman of SeAH Steel, and Kwak Jae-seon, Chairman of KG Group, along with steel industry executives, employees, and their families. The number of participants increased by about 400 compared to the previous year.
The event slogan was "Towards a Carbon-Neutral Future, Steel Industry to the World." The marathon featured 5 km and 10 km courses.
In his opening remarks, Chairman Jang said, "Amid ongoing uncertainties in the global economic environment, demands for carbon reduction are intensifying and trade barriers between countries are rising. I expect our steel industry to come together and turn these challenges into new growth opportunities."
He added, "I hope the Steel Marathon becomes a valuable time to foster unity." On the day, Chairman Jang participated in the 5 km course.

The Steel Association also organized volunteer activities such as balloon art and face painting for employees and their families to enjoy together, as well as children's programs like Steel Shootdori and Home Run King.
