Jeonnam Yeonggwang-gun, Kim Jeongseop Deputy Governor Enters 'Acting Governor Authority System'

"Emphasizing the Need to Faithfully Fulfill One's Original Mission"

Jeonnam Yeonggwang-gun has officially entered a 'Power of Attorney System' under Deputy Governor Kim Jeong-seop following the vacancy of Governor Kang Jong-man on the 17th due to a final Supreme Court ruling (violation of election law).

According to Yeonggwang-gun, from this day forward, the Power of Attorney system under Deputy Governor Kim Jeong-seop will be operated. The county will be led by Deputy Governor Kim Jeong-seop acting on behalf of the governor until a new governor is elected and inaugurated in the by-election scheduled for October 16. Article 124 of the Local Autonomy Act stipulates that the deputy governor acts on behalf of the local government head in case of vacancy.

Kim Jeong-seop, acting governor of Yeonggwang-gun, stated in a press release to the residents, "The shock and concern felt by the residents due to this sudden change must be immeasurably great," and added, "We will move forward toward the unwavering goal of improving the happiness and quality of life of the residents."

He also said, "As usual, I will make every effort for the stability and development of the local community, and the projects planned for this year will be carried out without any setbacks," and urged, "Please thoroughly establish public service discipline so that public officials do not become unsettled during the acting period, and do your best to prevent any administrative gaps."

Meanwhile, at 5 p.m. on the same day, Acting Governor Kim convened an emergency meeting with the heads of departments and offices, emphasizing, "While promoting county administration, please faithfully fulfill your original duties without any wavering."
